I have no idea. Can you send a larger picture by email? Also, I can't really tell the size from the photo, so could you let me know the average size of the crystals?

They look a lot like selenite, but I can't really tell from the photo.

By the way, those chollas look really sad. :( But it also looks like a really beautiful area. I haven't been hiking in a long time. Perhaps we should head out there someday soon.

I thought selenite, too, until I took them home and compared to a large sample of selenite that I have. The crystalline structure mimics is long, horizontal, but does not break thinly. I don't know how to better describe it. Will send you some photos.

Chollas were sad until we sang to them.

Selenite does come in lots and lots of forms, so I wouldn't rule it out just yet. Or it could be some other form of gypsum as well.
