I Like My Friends, But...

Kids, very old people and animals are the only things that make sense.

Back Live

Following the astute leading of my friend Jon (Cabin), I have switched this blog from "members only" to moderated comments. This means anyone can read it without a password and that I can preview comments before some spammer spams away to his heart's content.

Hope it works and let's you access more freely! And don't forget to check out the updates in the sidebar to the right.

My New Bus Line

I noticed this brand name while following an ABQ bus the other day...

Neck Pain

Discovered the source of one of my "pains in the neck" (besides taxes). My computer did sit up high and to the right of me as I typed. Thus my left neck muscle was strained from the awkward position.

Now I'm in the process or rearranging and rearranging and rearranging my desk space. It's one of those L-shaped deals. I'm moving my computer about every three hours to a new location.

I really need a flat screen.

I Don't Think So

Is it just me, or do gay people really volunteer and work more for social justice issues than do straight people?

Out of the people I know, about 25% of social workers are gay, versus them being only 10% of the general population.

You?

Another English Quirk

Ever notice that "resign" has the same spelling as "re-sign", but has the opposite meaning? Maybe it's the minus sign....

My Other Life

I have a secret life!

That's what I learned when I logged into my T-Mobile photo album account today. Instead of my own photos, it logged me into someone else's photos.

As best as I can make out, in my alternative life I am a firefighter in Glen Moore, Pennsylvania. I attend a lot of lectures, have a cat and take photos of car crashes and rainy Easter Day parades.

If I'm out of touch, it's b/c I'm under a deadline to produce a budget by Friday and a 75-page grant by Tuesday.

Pleasant and peaceful Sunday going to church, working in my yard (I decided against doing shelter work at home), reading and doing laundry.

I awoke today to a cool morning, meditated and arrived at work by 7:45. It promises to be a good day, though I wish that I could return home this evening to share it with a friend. To offset that sadness, I made myself a flower arrangement; these colors will greet me on my porch when I get home today:

Duke City Sleep Out

Metropolitan Homelessness Project hosted the first annual "Duke City Sleep Out" last Friday night. Nineteen participants raised over $3,000. There were prizes for most creative sleeping area, free drawings, lots of food and lots of fun.
Here are some of the boxes (doghouse is mine...artwork compliments of a friend):

Everyone who slept out received a t-shirt with this year's artwork featured on the front.

We stayed up late chatting until worn out.

Life & Times Of...

My life lately has included some serious deadlines and meetings all last week while preparing for a fundraiser, seeing hypnotherapy clients, expanding my hypnotherapy practice by qualifying to serve a program for persons with addictions but who are low on money, practicing with my Christian Kirtan singing group, playing house by actually doing dishes and the like, trying to get my car fixed, and keeping engaged in my friendships.

I'm sure that some stuff was overlooked in the mix (like grocery shopping, balancing check, etc.), but that's enough just to touch base with you now. Mostly, I'm very focused on some self-growth and self-awareness work right now. But more about that later.

I'll post some pics from this weekend's fundraiser as soon as I get them (probably tomorrow).
