Morning Mystery

I stopped by my landlord's house on the way out to work this morning. She had a CD for me that had come in the mail. I had not ordered a CD. I did not know the artist. There was no note with the invoice; it only stated that it had been paid for in full.

Now I can't wait to get to work to play the music and explore the artist and possibilities of who might have sent it. That's a good way to wake up.

I'd love to take credit for it, but I've never heard of joe pug. Maybe it's from some ravishingly handsome secret admirer.

Opening act for Steve Earle. What'd you think?

Sounds Dylanesque, sometimes like Bruce Springsteen, sometimes like Dan Bern. Think that I heard a Steve Earle connection. Went online and found that Pug is playing some concerts with Earle. My brother recently went to a Steve Earle concert. Mystery solved (I think).

Just posted my comment, then my brother's popped up and confirmed this. I like what I hear! Substantive lyrics. Besides sounding like a combination of everyone else, perhaps "Nation of Heat" is closest to Joe Pug's own voice. He's young, so it will be interesting to see how he evolves over time. Worth following.

You can hear him by clicking in the box with his name under "What I'm Listening To" in the column to the right.
