Went last evening with friends to eat sushi in Nob Hill. It was the annual "Shop & Stroll," a holiday event with music, dancers, farolitos, free foods & drink while stolling down Route 66 which was closed to traffic.
Best Purchase of the Night
A bumper sticker that reads:
- I don't mind straight people,
as long as they act gay in public.

What a fun night, and I don't even know you. I'm visiting Albuquerque soon and came across your blog when I was searching online. As someone with an active social life, what do you recommend for an out of towner? We only have one afternoon and one morning free. thanx
For the outdoors: go north of ABQ to walk the path at Tent Rocks...stunning!
Depending on the night, there is a decent music scene here. Old Town is an old standby and contains some good artists--check out Sheldon Harvey, a young Dine artist.
Shops in Nob Hill are quirky and the place to go if you are into shopping.
Las Mananitas for the best green chile in town.
Drive East on I-40, turn north on Turqouise Trail and go past the Sandia Peak turnoff to visit Madrid. It's an old mining town turned artist enclave.
For native experience, get directions West on I-40 to visit Acoma Pueblo.
Only an afternoon and morning? You'll just have to pick and choose. But beware: our state's alter motto is "The Land of Entrapment."
