The Supreme Court yesterday upheld an Indiana law that requires voters to show a photo ID.
I think that the ruling is well-intentioned, but don't think it is fair in a practical sense.
Point One:
Absentee ballots can be sent without picture ID; why should showing up in person necessitate an ID? It is an unfair practice that penalizes persons who choose to vote in person.
Point Two:
If you don't drive and don't know where your birth certificate is, it becomes a significant burden to meet governemental requirements for obtaining a photo ID.
